Dear kids,

Shouting "Hey Jesus!" at me when I walk down the street is so not original. I know I'm wearing sandals. This is because it's hot. You should be glad I'm nice and don't send bears after you.

How lame is that? Kids in this area just don't see enough long-haired male-bodied people. It's like an amazing novelty every fucking time.

Which always annoyed the crap out of me because every time someone yelled that, I was in fact employed. They seem to delight in whipping it out at protests, as if only lazy people had social consciousness or something.

Aw. When your pseudoclone [info]eviltomble was here, the only public hair-related comment he got was some teenaged boy on the bus blurting out, "Wow, that guy has really long hair!" On the other hand, go to certain neighbourhoods in this burg, and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a nerdy-looking bloke with a ponytail...

On the other hand, my housemate [info]blastedheath used to get called "Jesus [lastname]" fairly often, but his first name starts with a J anyway. (They also called him "Lurch" and "Alien," so it wasn't the only thing he ever got called.)

Not so much that it's an insult, more of the Biblical hair-related heckling by teenagers.
