"Key elements of Christian doctrine are offensive to Muslims, the Archbishop of Canterbury has said in a letter to Islamic scholars."

In other news, the Pope continues to be Catholic. How did anyone actually think this was news?

(I suppose perhaps it's drawing a distinction between "personally offensive to people who are Muslims" and "repugnant to Muslim theology"... or maybe it's just very confused.)

The newsiness might just be "We are actually willing to freely admit that we are douchebags."

If the newsworthiness is that the Archbishop is interested in discussion with Islamic scholars to find out how we can all stop fighting one another for a bit, that's worth reporting on, but the headline is something any scholar of either faith could have said for centuries. (The difference might be whether the scholar (of either faith) then explained that this was a reason why they should be killed.)

The explanation of the doctrine of the Trinity in that article is dodgy.
